Mcmaster email question
Hey,

I heard that our mcmaster emails switch from "id"@muss.cis.mcmaste r.ca to "id"@mcmaster.ca

Is this correct?

As of now my email is still "id"@muss.cis.mcmaste r.ca

I'm not sure if you can switch, but I've been using @mcmaster.ca for the 4 years I've been at Mac. I think muss.cis.master.ca and mcmaster.ca can be used interchangeably.

Yeah I'm sure it's interchangeable too, as I have tested both.

You can also change it so that you are sending mails from "[email protected]" rather than "[email protected] .ca" (see "settings").

After I forwarded my mail from my mcmaster.ca to my hotmail.com, I get SOME e-mails in both (which is what I wanted since I ticked the "save a copy" box) and MOST go ONLY to my hotmail. This might be what you guys are experiencing?

[email protected] er.ca = [email protected] = [email protected] s.mcmaster.ca = [email protected] r.ca

i've never gotten to the bottom of this really. once upon ago i forwarded my emails to my gmail. then i stopped it pretty soon after cause i wanted them separate still. to this day, i get all my @mcmaster.ca go to my gmail, and @muss.cis.mcmaster.ca go to my muss email. there's no where online that i can fix this as i've searched everywhere. it seems like a bug in the system, since i know many others who experience the same thing (either with their gmail, hotmail, etc...)
my final option is going to uts so they can reset it for me... but i've sorta been too lazy to do this.

but to answer the original email... both @mcmaster and @muss.cis.mcmaster are your emails.

macid @ mcmaster.ca is an email alias that, by default, points to your Muss email account ([email protected] ter.ca). However, if you decide to change/set your Primary Email Account using Mugsi, that alias will then point to your new primary email account. It happens overnight, not right away. macid @ muss.cis.mcmaster.ca ALWAYS points to Muss although you might choose to forward your email from there.

Undergrads can view or change their primary email account by following these instructions http://www.mcmaster.ca/uts/support/e...ilforward.html
