I got them too. It was sent to everyone on the First Generation emailing list. I haven't received anything in a while, hopefully someone closed the account.

Hey this is Alex Zhang. really sorry about this whole thing I'm not really sure what's going on but my fb account was compromised and I'm guessing someone hacked it earlier and is sending spam on my account. When I tried to retrieve the account and reset the password it keeps resetting itself so I'm currently contacting facebook about the whole deal. I don't know why either but wen I looked at my e-mail accounts info it said that they attached the mcmaster first gen e-mail on my e-mailing list so I'm not sure what exactly is happening with my account. If you could notify the rest of the people on MAC first gen group that would be great thanks a lot and I'll try to get this solved ASAP.

Gmail is grouping a lot of the conversations together, so I only got about 25 separate emails. Sucks if you're using MUSS or Hotmail, because they'd all come individually and there's over a hundred.

Yes, but he must have his own personal Mac email address. The only people as dumb as Alex are the ones still replying to the mailing list now. 'Please remove me from the list'. They're all so dumb.

Now people are making fake email accounts and sending spam on purpose to the First Gen mailing list - which they can get in A LOT of trouble for.

If you're using Gmail, you can block emails by making a filter. Click "Create filter" at the top of the page, and put the First Gen mailing list address in the "To:" box.

OP please add my post to your first post so others can find this quicker.

Solution: Add a filter which excludes all email sent TO "[email protected] .ca".


SOLUTION HERE FOR GMAIL USERS>>

1.Go to Top Right corner gear icon
2.Select "Mail Settings"
2.Select "Filters" tab
3.Select "Create new filter"
4.In the "To:" input box add the following: "to [email protected] .ca" (without quotations of course)
5.Click "Next Step"
6.Select "Delete" and "Skip the Inbox (Archive it)"
7.Hit "Create New Filter"
8.You're Done


You can add a filter to delete all message sent to "[email protected] .ca", which is then subsequently forwarded to everyone on the mailing list, this won't solve the problem, but it'll save you from having to go through hundreds of useless emails. I'm hoping this is a technical issue and not a behavioural experiment from the psych department lol.
