Firstgen just emailed everyone from their yahoo account.

"This is First Gen Support Desk

Hmm, someone sent an email from a Yahoo address claiming to be the First Gen admin. They said in order to remove yourself from the mailing list, you need to send an email to a random Live address. I'm not sure so about that..
Impersonating university staff is much worse than abusing a mailing list for joke spam.

Do not email anyone, this is a server side problem, being removed from the mailing list is not the issue. Just add a filter on your accounts to exclude any mail sent to "[email protected] .ca"

I haven't recieved any emails since I sent an email to that fake(?) account on yahoo.
o__o
did anyone recieve anything after that jeff britain fellow emailed?

also, since I'm using hotmail, I can't add filters, so that solution doesn't work for everyone.
I'll try calling UTS tomorrow if this doesn't stop.

I just went and changed my filters in hotmail to exclusive to see if that works. Go to "options", "more options", then under "preventing junk email" click "filters and reporting" and change to exclusive
