Emergency outdoor siren testing

Hi everyone,

My name is Matt Terry and I'm the editor of the Daily News.

The University will be conducting its first full test of the outdoor emergency siren system on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 2:20 p.m. During the test on Feb. 3 the sirens will sound and be followed by a voice announcement. No action is required from the campus community.

For more information see the Daily News story.

Thanks!

Matt

Guaranteed at least one person will not here about this. When the sirens go off this person will be running around wondering why everyone else is walking as per usual.

I think the voice after the siren will say "This is a test"

I think the voice after the siren will say: "Warning! Extra-terrestrial touchdown detected! Proceed immediately to your nearest bunker!" And then everyone will freak out because they didn't know Mac even HAD bunkers (Don't tell anyone I told you), and they will have no idea what to do. And then the person who made the announcement will have a jolly good laugh.

So the emergency site says that when we hear the sirens:

–Anyone in immediate danger should attempt to flee

This immediately reminded me of the scene in LOTR when the steward of Gondor screams while the city is under attack: FLEE! FLEE FOR YOUR LIVES!!!

I feel like screaming this over the siren and flailing while i run around campus

Forget I said anything... I like legroom.

If it makes you feel better, you can hide in T28 or T29. Will it help? No. But do what you've gotta do...
