*sigh* The memory of 2p04 makes me squirm a little.
You're (relatively) lucky. Dr. Siva is a good prof, and he makes the misterms and exam so you'll probably get more hints than the other section taht is taught by Dr. Inglis, I believe.
The course is a basic statics course. You're given several different structures, beams, screws, messed up geometric shapes, etc and you have to calculate the various forces, moments, strains and stresses on various parts of the structure. It's a lot of tedious math. I didn't find the course hard, so much as annoying and difficult to do well in, unless it's what you devote the majority of your time to. In my year, they cut marks if you carried a mistake through, which made it even more difficult.
I'm making it sound horrible, I know but it's not that bad. I'm in Eng Phys, so I didn't feel like it had any relevance to my areas of interest but if you're in Civ (or pretty much anything else) I'm sure it's a lot more useful. Also, STUDY PAST TESTS AND PRACTICE EXAMS LIKE CRAZY. A lot of questions are recycled. And for God's sake, do the tutorial assignments and don't let them pile up until the day before the exam.
Hope that helped
