English 3Y03
Has anyone taken this course recently with Professor Bruce?

If so, how was the structure of this course in terms of grading and the set up of the final exam?

Also, how would you rate the difficulty of this course (apart from the subjectiveness of essay marking)?

i really wanted to take this course in September, but after reading some of the reviews about her on ratemyprofessors.com, it kinda scared me off. The readings sound awesome, though. I think you get to read alice in wonderland, inkheart, peter pan, wizard of oz, harry potter.. and that stuff..

I'd love to take it for fun, but I don't want to risk killing my gpa if she's as bad as her previous students say..

I am so envious right now. I don't have room in my schedule at all, but all those books are awesome.

I had her for Fairytales last year. She likes to talk a lot but i found the essays pretty straight forward, most people didn't do well on the first essay but the average increased on the second one. I found the exam fair, if you read the books and listened in class you will do fine. I did well in that class and i'm a biology major, so don't be scared off! I'm also taking children's lit this year and some of the books are the same from fairytales so i don't think this class will be much different in terms of difficulty.

The mark breakdown is 20% book critique, 30% essay, and 50% final exam...

Any tips?

Was the second essay a comparison between two books kind of essay? Also how's the exam structured?
