I took both first-year kins in first year and they were great electives, even for someone like me who sucks at memorizing. The material isn't difficult, the labs are interesting (and all you have to do is the prelab quiz and show up at the lab to get the mark, they're the most chill labs I've ever done), there's a weekly quiz that also doesn't take up too much time to study for, and helps you for the exam. The workload was minimal.
