I always put my phone underneath my desk so if someone steals my backpack, all they'll get is my study notes... Not much you can do with those haha

I will probably be doing that next year now that I'll be living close to campus, but when one lives an hour bus ride away one tends to want to bring notes to study for the hour. That said, I avoid bringing my laptop during exams unless it's an absolute necessity for this reason.

That's true...I commute for about an hour and during exams I always take my bag with me so I can review a bit on the bus.

its also possible that if its a backpack that many people have someone coulda grabbed it by accident ! so if that was the case theyd probably realize and return it. i try not to bring my bag to exams, if i do i make sure all my important stuff is with me under my chair

I saw a guy in one of my exams with his laptop beneath his desk. Smart, I'd say.

I always bring my bag, and funnily enough, this time round I've had my laptop with me for nearly all my exams.
They make announcements like Keep your valuable under your chair, so I've been keeping my laptop beside my desk. After seeing this thread, I took no chances and kept EVERYTHING with me, leaving only my notes in my bag.
EDIT: As to why...study sessions before/after, stuff like that.

Yup, the master invigilator usually makes an announcement that you're allowed to keep your cellphone and laptop under your desk. I usually just bring a usb to campus and study in iahs/jhe/bsb/libraries/work

Yeah, have to agree with the other commuters. I bring my bag so I can study on the bus ride to the exam and normally arrive early so I can get some last minute studying done. However, there is no way that I would ever bring anything valuable into the exam room. No chance.

why would you not leave all the expensive stuff under your desk? I bring everything to exam rooms. If someone steals my bag Im gonna be out a bag and an iclicker. Headphones, laptop, tablet, phone...it all goes under the desk. The invigilator even says do NOT leave anything valuable in your backpacks.
