exactly, cost benefit analysis. I don't get anything if I phone them in, so the time i spent to call them would be fruitless as i don't even use the machines.

See my previous post above. If you don't care enough to take the time to do that, then stop complaining about it.

Furthermore, 2 dollars is an opportunity cost, that 2 dollars could have went into something that was of quality, not over due products.

Awee look at you trying to find a useful application for your future commerce degree, so cute.

Well the product appears to be liquid, varies in colour depending on the flavour of the substance. Seems to be high on electrolytes which makes this product beneficial to athletes or someone with a hangover. Those are just a few of the many qualities you can check.

WTF are you on? Are you mad or what? Do you lack common sense?
The guy is pissed at this shit and he has every right to be pissed. Stop calling him "Drama Queen" just because this sort of thing shows the true face of this mediocre school.

Come on everyone, as university students we need to mature up and handle the situation. If the student posted the concern here, it is our responsibility to provide them with help and not judge them based on their questions. So, for the student I would suggest you get a hold of their number and directly report this concern because you would be saving a lot of people's money and health. This may be a minor issue, but reporting issues like this right away is important, so the school decides to do something about it and I don't just mean the expired Gatorade issue itself.

are you mentally retarded? Don't you think as a good university, they should be providing quality service to its students?

The tuition fee increase every year, but does the quality of service increase every year as well? I highly doubt that!

Actually, the tuition increase makes sense. With increasing fixed costs and variable costs, along with inflation compounding the effects of everything, it will be pretty hard to maintain a high quality of service.
Just being devils advocate
Anyways, with the way the school is run, I'm really surprised that no one who became a lawyer has filed complaints to the management of the school. Teach them a lesson!

The stuff in the vending machines has absolutely nothing to do with McMaster's "quality service" to the students. Your tuition didn't pay for that Coke, and McMaster doesn't run the vending machines (it's an external contract).
This sort of comment is why you were called a drama queen.
Also, there's no need to call people "retarded". It's offensive on a whole other level than being called a drama queen.

Yes, you can be pissed, but repeatedly demanding that something be done about this and really being over-dramatic about the ramifications of a coke that's 8-9 months old certainly qualifies as "drama queen", especially because several people gave constructive suggestions as to what could be done, and they were all basically ignored by the OP while he/she continued to rant about how horrible it is that they got an expired coke.
Even grocery stores have expired stuff on their shelves sometimes, and you don't always realize until after you've bought it. Nobody flips out this much, even though grocery stores actually specialize in selling food (unlike McMaster, which certainly does not, nor do they claim to).
If all you're going to do is complain, then yes, you're being a drama queen. If you actually care about the issue, you'll do something about it.

Great news everybody! So here is what I came up with:
"Only and only if someone happens to get seriously ill in the future because of a similar reason then some of us should start to take this issue more seriously! And even then, there is some external contract BS so the school has ZERO responsibility for the incident! I mean come on, do the students seriously expect the school to go one step beyond and give a crap about who they're giving the contracts to and to do routine quality checks? Our tuition doesn't pay for that!"
OP, follow some of the suggestions and keep us updated.

says thanks to Phoneup for this post.
