I like steam, since it keeps everything in one place, plus takes care of updates easily.

Sorry for double-posting, but just realized something:
From Wikipedia: The PC version of Fallout: New Vegas uses Valve's Steamworks digital rights management (DRM) system, meaning that players require a Steam account and client to use the game, including copies purchased on DVD. Steamworks is also utilized for achievements.[20] Players do not have to be connected to the internet to play the game after initial activation.

You don't own a physical copy. But thats okay because you can download the game to any computer via steam and still be able to play it because the game will be connected to your account.
Unless you're gung ho about actually owning the game, then I would say go for the steam version.

Well, if I buy it Retail, and then activate it via Steam (since I have to, either way), will I be able to redownload the game via Steam if my DVD is scratched? Or is that exclusive to if I download it via Steam only?

I don't think you could sell it to somebody because the game gets tied to your steam account.

Getting it through Steam:
Pros: -Quick, and easy to download whenever you want
-If you catch it on sale you'll get it much cheaper than in store
-If you're into achievements on steam, you can get them as you progress in the game
-Don't have to worry about games taking up space in your house
Cons: -DRM; you don't actually own the game
-Can't resell

Thats how it was when I bought COD, not sure if its the same for fallout.

be warned though this guy has extremely few complements for any game. Maybe watch his fallout 3 review to get idea what he likes.

NEver played a Fallout game but I tried Fallout New Vegas and it's pretty amazing. I mean, you literally kill anyone in the game. Thing is, I don't feel right when play evil sometimes....
