Favourite Video Game Character
I hope this has not already been done before. Figured I would try to get some discussion going.
Who is your favourite video game character and why? Hero or villain, silent or expressed, famous or obscure. Anything goes.
My absolute favourite is Delita Hyral/Heiral (Final Fantasy Tactics/Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions). He is perhaps the most interesting character I've ever seen in a video game.
Spoilers ahead.
Machiavellian in nature, Delita is a ruthless consequentialist ("the ends justify the means"). He espouses this ethical theory early in the game after suffering a needless tragedy resulting from his low birth. For the remainder of the game, he undertakes a self-driven crusade against the forces in power; the nobility and the state. He rises in power through backstabbing and manipulation, all for the greater good.
The end to his story, conveyed in a short scene after the game credits, really had an impact on me. I have never emphasized more with a character in anything else ever. Interestingly, he is a total moral gray area to the rest of the divided fanbase. To some, he is an anti-hero; to others, he is an anti-villain.
Anyway, what about everyone else?

Actually, Vagrant Story suggests that he lived. Since they are both set in Ivalice.
To be honest, I think it is worse that he lived. TV Tropes' trope "Lonely At The Top" fits well.

Yeah, it's been a while, and I forgot that it was implied he survived Ovelia's murder attempt.

Not a huge fan of Sephiroth independently. But, the relationship between Cloud and Sephiroth is -easily- the greatest rivalry in gaming.

YOSHI!
One of the greatest video game character! So cute and lovable, not to mentioned completely overpowered! Every single Mario game, whenever I see Yoshi I just squeals like a pig. |

Just from a recent game I finished, Merrill from Dragon Age 2.
Her story's probably the most tragic out of all the companions. Plus, she's very quirky and innocent for a blood mage 
Also, I really like The Warden from Dragon Age: Origins

Garrett, from Thief is the only one that comes to mind at the moment
edit: oh, and that skull from planescape, the robot from kotor, and max payne are my runner ups

My favourite character in any game has to be Snake (i.e., Big Boss from MGS3). He's so badass, and his voice sounds amazing. I could listen to it for hours.
