How was First Year?
Hey,

Thought I'd start this thread to get all the first years, or now second years to reflect on the past year in university.

Personally, this was the year I learnt the most in my life. And I don't meant academic learning, I mean learning about yourself and other people. I've never been challenged as much as I have in the last year, and I've had to draw so much strength and discipline to get through it all.

I also lived on rez which was an amazing experience.I already miss school so much I want to go back now!

That's me , how about you?

I had an awesome time, I would have to agree with pretty much everything you said I also learned not to always listen to what other people have to say, for instance how Chem 1AA3 is insanely hard... I went in terrified because half the people I talked to said it was super difficult but turned out to be my favourite course!

I learned about the kind of person I really am. My study habits were poor, my ignorance was intolerable, and I still got decent marks. I also learned about what it really means to be an engineer (besides the trolling and ignorant behaviour ) and what I need to do in order to become successful in my upper years.

This is so true in general. People say all kinds of things but you have to careful as to what you belive. And I loved Chem 1AA3 too. It was my second favourite course, only behind CHEM 1A03

In first year I fell for everyone saying economics was "insanely easy" and neglected studying. Thats when I learned my lesson and nothing in university is "easy"

all second years told me chem 1aa3 was easy >_>. and looking back at the 2011 chem 1aa3 tests, they had it easier than us imo. everything was fairly easy for us too except for the exam. if anyone got 85+ on that chem exam, they are beast.

Indeed! I regret not trying harder to get into res, I missed out on a TON of fun. I didn't live offcampus, which I also regret, but I learned that my study habits are terrible and they need to improve a LOT, and I should start essays before the due date. Even though I still don;t haave a clear picture of what I wanna do after graduation, my horizons have expanded

It went by pretty quickly. Overall, it was a great learning experience and helped shape my time management skills and work ethics towards the right direction. I look forward to the challenges that second year brings.

I learned what kind of person I am, and I've finally realized how hard competition is out there.

The exams for both Micro and Macro that I took (first and second term respectively) were both fair. There wasn't even one question which was unfair in either one of them.
