First Year Engineering
Hi, I've been admitted into the engineering program, on ouac it says that I'm not in the co-op portion of the program. I'm strongly interested in the coop aspect and I was wondering if there was a way to get into coop for first year or does it start second? Basically I just need some information regarding the coop for engineering, thanks.

Co-op at mac is very flexible. It dosent matter what program you applied to you can just go to the co-op office and sign up for the program, and yes it starts first year (or whenever you want it to start) you just need to have a total of 12 months of work experience to complete the program

Coop vs non-coop doesn't matter. Just sign up during the year at the coop office, pay your 100$ fee, and you get access to OSCAR coop jobs, along with the jobs you might apply for on your own

Dont forget, you have to do the coop classes.

And GL getting it first year, its pretty tough.. well, atleast it was for us in 2009 summer.

Contrary othe last post, you don't have to "qualify" for the program, so don't worry about that. What he means is that it can be difficult to get a co-op qualifying job out of your first year. It's do-able, but usually only with connections. But you can simply sign up on your first day of school by walking into the co-op office and registering for the co-op course (it's a few hours total, either at night or on a Saturday)

Yeah,

I did coop 2nd year, its just a few classes you attend. Theres a few sections you can attend to work with your schedule. I suggest doing it 1st term so you can see job postings that come up in January onwards
