FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS
By Danielle Lorenz

Roger Kahn, a famous sports writer, has said the following about football: “
Football is violence and cold weather and sex and college rye”. Consequently, there will be big hits, alcohol, and possibly a little bit of hanky panky this weekend at Ivor Wynne Stadium. I offer no commentary on the weather, however because I have no idea what it’s going to be like. Our very own McMaster Marauders football team will be playing at 1:00PM in the Ontario University Athletics Quarter-final match against Guelph. Our team’s record this year is 5-3, putting us in fourth place. Ottawa is in first place with Laurier and Queen’s following behind.

Our opponent, Guelph is sixth in the standings. In our last game against Guelph, Mac came out on top, winning 37-36. In the game, our players set some school and OUA records. Adam Archibald, the quarterback made a new McMaster single game passing record, with 527 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 interception; completing 27 of 41 passes. This breaks a previous record of 460 yards from 2001. Additionally, Archibald threw a 108 yard pass to Mike Bradwell, surpassing the previous McMaster record for the longest pass set in 1978 by Bob Hultgren. Bradwell also broke a record that day. Having two touchdowns, his total for the season was nine, which beat the previous record of eight.

Come see Archibald, Bradwell and the rest of the team play this weekend! Cheer on our McMaster Marauders!

You can grad tickets two different ways. First, you can go to the Business Office at DBAC and pick them up without a service charge. Alternatively, you can buy them through Ticketmaster; either through the website (www.ticketmaster.ca), by phone (905-481-4444), or at the Ti-Cats box office (at Ivor Wynne, opening two hours prior to game time).

If you buy your tickets in advance they are cheaper! $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $5 for Mac Students and children (Guelph too, but who cares about them?). Tickets on game day are $16 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, and $10 for McMaster students (and Guelph…but again who gives?). Children are $6.

M-A! M-A! M-A-C, LET’S GO!
