Forfeit Take Home Exam???
I was told that it was possible to forfeit writing a take home final exam and the final mark assigned to you would be the one you have without the final exam component.

Can someone confirm (or deny) this with me and if it is true, what are the procedures that would accompany this?

I really don’t think what you are describing is possible. You could maybe get an extension by using MSAF.

You actually believe you can choose not to write a final and just get a mark without it? think about that for a moment and then let us know what you come up with

My prof told us our take home exam essay is optional and if we choose not to do it then our mark will be of the previous three essays and they'll just be worth more. So yes it is possible guys.

It's only possible if that marking scheme is explicitly laid out in the course outline. Not a blanket policy like what the OP was describing.

Lol really, think about your question before you post If it doesn't say this in your course outline and you just "heard" it from someone who probably DID have it in their course outline, what do you think?

Actually it was not mentioned at all in the course outline, he told us and that's it.

Well OP is saying as if he heard that from his frineds or classmates but not from his prof.
If the prof said it is possible, then why even bother asking here?
Also course outlines normally state that prof can modify the course at his/her own will, so whatever the prof says IS the course outline.

Under normal circumstances, you can never forfeit a take-home exam and hope that the marks will be distributed to some other components.
