I'm assuming you're referring to the different engineering add-on programs such as bio, society, and management?

Adding any of these programs to your 4 year engineering degree (where possible) extends your degree to 5 years.

For example, I added Society onto my materials degree and extended my time at school by 1 year to complete those courses and their complements (minor in theatre and film studies!)

You can add society and management I think to anything (except maybe tron, or any bio add-ons), and bio can be added to chemical or electrical. (unless things have changed)

The course calendar on mcmaster's website will tell you more and in detail

its because my friend wants to take some commerce courses but she's in social science and some commerce courses doesnt allow social science students to take but she saw 4 or 5 year level, so she was wondering if that applies to social science students
