Definitely.. And it's better safe than having to take your computer to get fixed :(

AVG anti-virus is free to use. Running 2 processes only.

Not many people know what they are doing. A lot of people are computer nubs so they do need one. People end up visiting sketchy sites getting virus attached emails and the list goes on. Even if you don't have an anti virus you should at least have a fire wall running. Windows provides Windows Defender which is okay but they are slow at updating their definitions.

It's true that a lot of people don't know much about using a computer, but I think it's a lot less in our generation. It's common sense not to open e-mails from people you don't know, especially when the e-mail is from yourself and you know you didn't send yourself an e-mail.

Didn't Microsoft come out with a free AV program? I haven't used it or looked for reviews on it though.

Yeah! I've heard about it recently.. Most people who've used it said it's okay.. nothing special, but it's definitely better than nothing..

Get either Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials Beta
Go for the second one, if you are not computer savvy enough to find it on your own then just go for Avast.

Both are free and protect very well, especially with the webguards, meaning they block off the viruses before you even download them (Avira Anti Vir only has that in the premium, and AVG became bloated).
