I'm interested in taking french 1z06 as one of my electives for the upcoming year. I have taken up to grade 11 french, but haven't taken any french for 2-3 years. French 1K06 isn't being offered next year and I didn't take grade 12, so 1A06 isn't for me. For some reason, SOLAR lets me take 1Z06 even tho I have grade 11 french (and is technically an antirequisite to it). Does anyone know if I can take the course and still have the credit counted (even with the high school antirequisite? or has anyone had a similar experience? Any responses would be appreciated

Erm...don't know...probably best to contact the department? If you tell them you haven't taken French in a while and you've forgotten most of it, they'll probably let you.

I did contact the department (by emailing both the french department and the head of the department). and they both responded. The only thing is they gave me conflicting response. The department administrative assistant told me that as long as Solar lets me , then I could take it. But the head says I cannot, but can instead take 2Z06. I`m not sure who to listen to aha :(

I'm taking it and remember VERY little French.

this course is the best elective that i have ever taken.
it's okay if you know little French, because you start from the beginning.
You can get a very high mark as long as you put in the effort.
And of course you should only take it if you really want to learn French

what year did you guys learn French until? and just wondering if you know of anyone who's taken it even with Grade 11 French?

I hadn't studied French since Grade 8.
Took four years off to learn Spanish, then returned.
Everything I knew previously was probably covered in the first five minutes.
