Getting in a class past the Deadline
As The deadline to drop/add classes fast approaches - A friend has told me they STILL have not been able to get a seat in a class she NEEDS to have to graduate by April. (and it is a full-year class)

This will mess up her OSAP completely as ddrops her down to part-time, and means she has to take school again next year. Which fucking sucks.

If you ask nicely, can you be added after the deadline?
Have you ever gotten into a class after the deadline?

If your friend needs the class to graduate, they should talk to an academic advisor ASAP and get a spot opened up. If it's a class they WANT to take to graduate (such as part of a list of courses with other options) then they should find another option.

I've heard of exceptions being made to drop courses after the deadline, but not to add. If you've already missed that many classes and possibly assignments and stuff for marks, it's going to be hard to catch up.

only one actual class has happened so far, so not behind.

And they def. don't just want to take the class because it is interesting.
It is only because it is a required.
so they might be lenient? It would seem strange to not allow.

Did they talk to your academic councillor? If it is a required course, they will open a spot for you (not if minor)

If its a required course for their under-grad then, whoever their academic adviser is will have to open up a spot for them. Just tell them to book an appointment or call the office and let them know.
