Good history article database on Mac Library site?
I'm a third year Pol Sci student, so basically the only databases I've ever used through the library are JSTOR and Scholars Portal.

I have a history term paper coming up and I HATE the setup of the library website. Does anyone know any good article databases for history (specifically, Canadian religion)? Thanks!

I'm in history and I hate searching through the databases

JStor is always a safe bet

Historical Abstracts and America, History and Life are highly recommended by TAs and such also.

I'm not sure about Canadian Religion, but sometimes I cheat and I'll google a topic, then see if Mac subscribes to the e-Journals. [because I prefer browsing through Journals rather than databases sometimes]

either way, good luck with your paper!

I do something similar sometimes; except I use Google Scholar and then see if Mac subscribes to the journal online.

I use JSTOR a lot but here's the main page for the databases that Mac subscribes to http://library.mcmaster.ca.l ibacce...#find-articles
you can search by subject

I use Google Scholar. I've never had problems with the credibility of the souces. Also, I find that it is a lot easier to find the information I need!

America History and Life is the best bet for Canadian History. JSTOR is also good - in the advanced search you can limit to history. If you want to concentrate on religion ATLA is the best database.

Don't forget, you can ask for this kind of help at the research help desk or go to http://library.mcmaster.ca/justask and you can chat with a librarian online!
