we switched from cogeco to bell. Cogeco and bell have similar speeds but cogeco cost us more than double the price per month, mostly due to overcharges. With bell you can add 50GB to your cap for $5/month, to a maximum of $15/150GB/month. This was the distinguishing factor for choosing bell.
I wouldnt laugh but AOL offers unlimited plans for cheap prices in parts of ontario. It was not available at our house in hamilton because they dont install dry loops (no active phone line) but i have been using them for years at home. They average 6mbps for $35/month for unlimited up and down with no throttling.

We use cogeco at our house but we use the business plans. we currently have unlimited and everyone is very satisfied in the house with the ul and dl speeds (everyone in the house games/torrents/downloads stuff) so if that's any gesture at all.

Dividing up the bill it totals to less than 20$ per person (split amongst 6). It turns out to be a pretty good deal that way.

Question: this TSI you guys are speaking of, is it tekk savvy? :S I looked up TSI cable and thats what came up in search ...i am not familiar with it.

Just to reinforce what was said earlier on in the thread. All DSL lines are reseller of Bell. Can't escape it.

Teksavvy (TSI) have been wonderful at my place in Hamilton. I was so happy with their service and pricing I ended up helping a friend switch over from Bell to TSI back in Mississauga.

Customer service have been wonderful. I only needed to call them once for my friend because somehow the profile was change to 7 Mbits instead of 5 Mbits. Due to old wiring, my friend's line couldn't handle it. When I called up TSI, they tried everything they could to retain the 7 Mbits. Definitely show of good faith.

I'm on their unlimited data 5 Mbits package. With taxes and dry loop (I have no landline connection) it comes to $55/month.

If you want more speed (more people at your house) you can attempt to do their MLPPP thing. Which basically merge two DSL lines into one. So instead of getting 5 Mbits, you will be getting 10 Mbits. Pricing will be double of course.

Dont know why so many people are afraid of resellers of bell lines. Bell lines are everywhere and were subsidized with our taxes. Thats why they can be used by other ISPs. Go with teksavvy if you have a more than one roommate. You will need the bandwidth.

Ranking from DSL Reports

http://www.dslreports.com/gbu

And Teksavvy just raised their lower tier cap from 200 GB to 300 GB.
