GPA for JPPL
I am a first year computer science student who is really interested in applying for the JPPL program, however; I did not have room for a philosophy course this year. Although it is not a requirement I know it is recommended.

My GPA first semester was 10.2 but by the end I think it may be around 8 or 9 because calculus II and linear algebra are killing me. Based on this I was wondering what my chances of getting in are because I know enrollment is limited? Also what was the cut off GPA last year? And finally how much weight does the supplementary application carry because I feel like i can write a fairly strong one?

Any help is appreciated!

Hey there!
I'm currently in first-year JPPL. I took two Philosophy courses last year and my GPA was around 7.7 or so. I heard the cut off last year was around 8, but I am not completely certain (this was just talking to other students in the program) so I think you will be fine. Just remember that there is also a supplementary form that you have to do express why you want to be in the program and why you should be considered, you should start thinking about what you're going to write for it too. The supplementary application is not too long but it definitely helps for your application. If you would like you can always write why you didn't take a philosophy course (although you don't have to, because as you said it's only recommended).

Just a heads up that the program might be a learning curve if you haven't done any philosophy classes or done any philosophy papers.

Good luck!
