had anyone taken psych 3f03?
There is no course review for it. I was wondering if anyone took this course, any ideas what it's like, suggestions, who they took it with, level of difficulty, reading, essays, test evaluation style, etc. ??

thanks

I took the course in Fall 2011 with Dr. Feinberg. It was 2 midterms (22.5% each) and a 55% exam. Lectures sometimes didn't even go a full hour, it was a pretty chill course. The hardest part is that you have assigned scientific articles to read each week, but otherwise the lecture material is very straightforward. Tbh, going to class wasn't really necessary. The midterms were all multiple choice and were pretty fair. The exam was messed up though as there were questions regarding content we never learned -- my guess is that it was an exam from a previous year in which the content differed a bit. I wouldn't say the course is bird, but it's definitely a good choice if you need an upper-level psych.

The course was really interesting! Although it was hard to score well since very few things made up your mark - 2 midterms and 55% exam. Everything was MC. I agree, with Mike, the testing for the exam was really wierd. There were a lot of questions on randoms things we never focused on. I didn't think it was a fair exam. I gotta admit the workload for this course was minimal. All we had to do read the assigned articles, most of which were really interesting! In the end I didn't end up with a great mark in the course, but interest-wise it was awesome!

We did not receive practice tests. Tbh, the questions you're given weren't exactly out of left field in any way -- it's not the type of course where you need to do practice problems, such as math or chemistry.

Feinberg's pretty chill. The readings weren't even that much work, in reality. If you've got a science background you'll probably have an advantage over others just due to knowing more about evolution.

How difficult is it to achieve a double digit grade in this course (10+)? With effort and hard work, would a 12 be attainable? I'm just worried since many have stated that the final exam was not like the midterms in terms of content and difficulty.

I was also wondering the same thing. Is it hard to get a 10?
