How is that stupid?
It's a legitimate concern for the rules.
When did that become stupid?

Maybe one day, goverment would be fair and say the truth to its people. You would have a leader who is someone everyone looks up to. Maybe One day, Hatred, War, Oppression and other Forms of Evil are dead. People start to realize that family, friends , chrity, life and good deeds are important .
A true Utopia.
I would like this to happen but something is telling me it is only a dream. Maybe one day...

When gov. removes automatic rifles or handguns orther kind of weapons from its people, they don't remove it from BAD people, they remove it from the good people (law abiding citizens).
Those who rebel agaisnt the law are til going to get guns and use them. Go to Toronto, speak and meet with gang members. And they might show you their handgun. Believe me, I've met people who owned/carried a handgun in Toronto.
When they attack someone, if that innocent person has no weapon to defend him or herself with it, he/she is as good as dead or wounded.
Automatic guns ? Useful. Say woman has her home invaded by a group of full grown men.
Police Call? No,
Shotgun? Depends which type. Auto ones would be effective.Other wise you would need to have good accuracy and speed.
Automatic rifles would work bst. Sub machine guns would be better in a close-quarter type of combat.

lol. obviously gangs can still get illegal guns, but the whole guns for self defense idea is really flawed. first of all, if you have a gun stored in such a way that it is easily accessible, it's also accessible to kids, friends etc. who could accidentally hurt themselves or someone else. secondly, to use your example, that woman would have to be pretty pro with the gun to get the group of guys before they shot her. smartest move in that situation would be to hide/run and call the police, shooting at a group of people with guns seems like a pretty good way to get killed. also, didn't mean to go so far off topic, i know this issue has nothing to do with the municipal election.

Wow, there's many rifle life examples where old men and women used their guns in the US to protect themselves against criminals.
And anything is accessible to anyone. If you hide guns like you hide jewelry it won't be easy.
Just the tought of civilians having concealed firearms , scares criminals. Watch 60 minutes (CBS), they did a documentary on gun myths and had criminals interviewed.
Hiding to call the cops? works nice if you live in a big house and if you're flexible. Say, the perpetrators weren't stupid and cut the phone line.

Sooo about the Municipal Election Today. Candidate Fred Eisenberger's campaign team has been kind enough to provide us with a shuttle bus to the polling stations off campus till 2pm. Please visit the MSU station in the student center atrium near Teriyaki for walkers to accompany you or for the shuttle bus.
Whatever you do please make an effort to go out and vote!

An old woman with a automatic getting rid of robbers. Kinda of made me laugh. BTW America can't own all guns It is illegal to have automatic weapons in the US (most people in the world don't realize that)

Have YOU EVER heard about the Second Admendment ?
Plus it depends froms tate to state, some do and some don't. Turth is you can have an automatic rifle in every state, but some ban weapons that were sold after 1986. And in other states, you just have to pay an extra 200$ fee.
Hell, you can even have a 50 caliber weapon in some state.

i bet for every example where someone successfully defended themselves with a gun, there are ten where someone got injured in an accident or used the gun in a domestic murder. obviously this could happen with hunting guns, but having a gun for self defense means it is not locked properly, and somewhere easily accessible(otherwise, what's the point?). i don't want to derail the thread anymore(and we could argue about different situations all day), but my point is that having more guns around would probably cause more accidents/murders than they would prevent.

Such a stupid point. Back it up with a logical linear reason. Why would having guns result in more murders ? And don't bring me US statistics to compare them to Canada because the US population is 10 times greater than Canada.
Here's a FACT: In the US, states that allow handguns to be carried in public if they are conceiled have less murder or accidents caused by firearms than states who don't.

maybe there wouldn't be more murders, but definitely more accidents. here's the logical reasoning...more guns(compared to now in canada) that are less secure means more people screwing around and therefore a greater chance of someone getting hurt. if you compare the per capita gun murders in canada and the us, you will see that canada has a much lower rate.

I vote because I can, and ~100 years ago, I (or my great great grandma in fact) would not have been allowed to and that would have sucked.
If you don't know about the election, just go and spoil your ballot - it at least shows numbers. I spoiled for councillor because i didnt look into it, but I did for mayor.
