To hang or not to hang
I'm just about to graduate and the thought came to mind: should one hang their diploma on a wall, or is this considered pretentious? Maybe it depends where.. like maybe in a home office or study? In some professions like medicine or law its normal to display diplomas, but what about other areas?

I've hung every award and diploma I have ever received. It isn't pretentious, it reminds you of all the hard work you've put in and what you've achieved.

Its only pretentious if you point it out constantly to people who are in a position to observe it. Why not show it off though, you spend alot of blood sweat tears and money to get such a little item...

Totally go for it, it will give you a good sense of accomplishment when you look at it.

You should display it proudly, just like you will have the ability add it as a post nominal to your name

What a fitting topic title for exam time.

I agree with hanging it though. I suppose it doesn't matter where as long as it's appropriate. I'd assume in your home office/study unless you have a job where it'd be suitable to hang it.

I don't see the harm in it, but me personally I don't see myself doing it. I want to be able to remind myself every day of the degree I earned based on finding a job I enjoy and showing up to work and applying that knowledge with my own actions.

I'm definately hanging mine! It will probably go in the living room. Don't feel bad about hanging it - you worked hard! It depends on each person though. My sister doesn't even know where her diploma is, and her husband has his diplomas and certificates all over the house.
There's nothing wrong with being proud of 3 or 4 years and over $20,000 well spent!

I noticed that you're in engineering, and I know from working at an engineering firm that some of them will have their employees diplomas displayed in the entrance to the office (usually smaller firms).

Frames at Titles start at $75 and go up to $225. :/
I suggest looking at WalMart or Sears instead.
