you made 1 whole point drop seem like nothing, this has nothing to do with your grades. just your outlook for the future

Haha yes, my outlook for the future is... one bad thing doesn't mean your whole life is f***ed. That's terrible.

Depends on what graduate program you're applying for; one bad mark won't matter much for a lot of programs.

A 1 point drop in 1 year's time is not what you make it out to be. Continuing at a rate of 8.4 for the next 3 years (actually 28 courses since they took 2 in summer school), you would end up with a 8.16 average. Also from what I've seen, people tend to do better in upper years.

The fact of the matter is I'm doing a double degree in engineering/business and the course I did bad in is a business course so if I go to grad school it's going to be for engineering so the business marks won't matter anyway...

If the mark doesn't matter, then why do you care what happens if you got a bad mark? If the mark doesn't matter, nothing happens except your CA will decrease. You passed the course, got the credit and are one step closer to your degree.

If your aiming for a GPA over 3.7, any mark below 10 really really hurts. That's what I referring to.

How does that make any sense? 10 is equivalent to 3.7. That means if you all your grades are 10+ then you're GPA is over 3.7. If you are getting 11s and 12s then a grade below 10 will not "really really hurt".

I have 1 6 and 2 9s, GPA 3.85. Honestly a couple bad marks will not hurt you in the long run. Just learn from it and study extra hard during the year. Also schools love students who show resilience.

It sucks if you're trying to get into med school or anything else highly competitive that will count it but its not the end of the world. Within mac we don't use the 4.0 system (which makes it hard to use A's and A+'s to bring up your average).

They may not hurt on paper, but they sure hurt your heart!
