Health Services
If we need to go to the doctors for a walk-in check up, or going to a pharmacy to pick up some medicine or what not, can you go to McMaster's hospital and does it cost anything?
I know i still need one of my vaccinations, so i was wondering if i could just go to McMaster's hospital to get it there, thanks.

There is a health centre on campus for students which is located in the basement of the Student Centre. However, they work on an appointment basis i believe.

Also, there is a walk in clinic in Westdale beside Shoppers Drug Mart.
I don't really know about Mac Hospital because I have never been there, but if your just going for an immunization I would recommend just going to the health centre or the clinic.
EDIT: also you are covered for 80% of the cost of prescriptions because you are automatically enrolled in the MSU health plan... for participating pharmacies see this link:

depends on what your getting.. but for 98% of the time... yes!
they will ask you for your health card when you walk in, then they will ask you to fill out a few forms... and ta-da! you see the doctor! i recommend going at odd hours though, because sometimes the wait could be as long as an hour till its your turn.

Don't write off the Campus Health Centre They have a team of physicians and nurses working on sight. Its super convenient, and you can schedule an appointment between classes and drop in - all you need is your student card and OHIP. Also, if you ever need prescriptions, the pharmacy is just upstairs!

No one wrote off Campus Health at all.

I've been to the CHC for emergencies (ex: strep), but from what I've heard their annual check ups don't really cut it. They'll do the pap smear, but they didn't do a breast exam... which is so important for women who are on the pill.
Perhaps this is just an isolated incident or a matter of somebody forgetting, though.

That was probably an isolated incident. The breast exam is included with the CHC checkups

I think it's an isolated matter. I have never had a problem with my check ups. In fact, the doctor I see regularly (J. Bradfield) is excellent. She is always willing to look into any concerns I may have, which is how we found out that I am prone to benign cysts in various places in my body. I like Campus Health, hands down, to any walk-in or doctors clinic.

Bradfield is great. Most of them are, I was just really worried when I heard about the lack of breast exam, though you're supposed to do a BSE every month. Glad it's just an isolated thing.
