The "heater" concern
Hi. I got an e-mail about the winter move-out that had a list of things that should be done before I leave and one of those included heating units being turned on to low. I live in Bates and I only turn on the heater once and a while (like 10min when it gets cold) and shut it off when I'm not in the room or sleeping because the room tends to get really hot after turning it on even for a short time. (guessing it's because there's no thermostat in the room to keep track of the temperature so the heater just keeps operating)
So I was kinda reluctant to leave the heater on for the entire winter break but decided to do what the e-mail told me to and left the heater on to low before I left the residence today.
The thing is it's still kinda bothering me. I'm just worried that the room's gonna get too hot over the break and start melting or demaging stuff inside. Would that ever happen? Can someone just comfort me and get me out of this stupid worry?

Thanks.

melting?
lolwat

don't worry about it.
Someone goes into your room during the break to make sure the heat is set properly, windows are closed, etc.
If it's too hot they'll turn it down.

And I seriously doubt things would start melting.

I think the worse that can happen if the heater's too warm is that your posters might fall off. I lived in Hedden last year and my roommate and I refused to turn our heater on.. we got back and it felt like a sauna.

Yeah, I got that email too. Unfortunately, I got it 5 days after I moved out so I didn't unplug the million things they asked.

Housing does a check of the rooms during the holidays. They'll probably unplug something if something bad could happen and damage the building.

I knew it was something stupid to worry about lol But it really bothered me at the time. I'm always so paranoid about what "could" happen and it gets to the point where I'm thinking about the worst possible situation. Thank you all
