Google maps actually has a very easy bus-route function:

https://www.google.ca/maps/dir/McMas....22721 82!3e3

just enter your directions and hit the bus icon and it will show you the routes and times

If you mean Eastgate area, just take the B-Line (10). If you need to get into Stoney Creek a bit, take the B-Line that transfers into a 55/58

Like everyone said the B-line will get you there the fastest, the stop is on main and emerson (across the street from McMaster Hospital) and will continue all the way to Eastgate Square which is just entering Stoney Creek. Depending on where in Stoney Creek you wanna reach, like commented above, transfer to the 55 or the 58. Some B-line busses will be act as a 55 or 58 so just read sign above where it states which bus it is.

Quinta's post says it all.
just keep in mind that the bline does not run on weekends and the last bus from main and emerson to eastgate is 7:13.

The 1A also goes up until eastgate (this is the last stop for the 1 buses) but like the bline, it doesn't run weekends and after 7.

If you are on main street, the 1 starts at the GO station and goes till eastgate. that bus is very frequent and runs 7 days, and later on in the night as well. then from eastgate, depending on where you have to go, you would take one of the 3 stoney creek buses (these buses operate in lower stoney creek, not the mountain)
