HELP! Math 1F03
I got Mr. Mclean for Math 1F03. Now from rate my prof and others i have heard some not very good things about him. He gives brutal marks. The problem is, the others who are teaching Cehn, kennedy and Batista are not listed anywhere. So anyone had any experiences with Mclean and should i just do math 1f03 with him b/c it should be simple enough since its grade 12. Or if i want to get that 12 switch to another teacher? Plz reply soon, thx.

Is this seriously a problem? Suck it up, do the work and you'll be fine.
There is no reason you can't do well in a class if you keep up to date with the material, do the work and attend lectures.

Very odd...Batista is a graduate student! (I was in some classes with her!)
She's probably good though...I mean I'd imagine, if they asked her to teach already!
Correction: Everyone besides McLean is a graduate student...so you may be taking a risk with them, but I'd imagine they're pretty good.

Dr. Mclean is one of the best first year math profs. I'd say he's second only to Dr. Childs. He's definitely a very fair marker and he's extremely helpful during lecture and office hours.

You have to realize that 90% of the time the only people willing to write a review on ratemyprofessor.com or whatever are people that failed and think that by giving a bad review they are somehow getting revenge.

He probably got a bunch of bad reviews because he messed up our 2Q04 midterm, and people were pissed. But in the end he admitted he made it too long and made some questions too hard, and made the next test shorter. It was nice of him to listen to us, so he's not a bad prof. I just found his jokes a little excessive during teaching. He's nice though.

Ya ur rite about that, its just that the he got a lot of consistently bad ratings from over 70 ppl and i thought something must be up. I guess they just got bad marks in his class.

I don't think people bother to rate teachers if they were good/ok. That's why you should get MacInsider reviews.
Don't we have professor reviews (or can)? We should really use that feature more if we do.

From my experience, ratemyprofessor is the worst possible indicator of whether or not you'll like a prof. Even in a class where I thought everyone really liked the prof and the class was completely fair, there were many negative reviews. I really don't know whats up.

I loved having McLean as my prof. I had never taken calc before and he actually made it fairly easy and kept us laughing most of the class. Just make sure you keep up with his notes because he does move very quickly! If you need help he tries to accomodate you personally and if he can't he tells you where to go. It was a great class but I don't recommend the front row because he tends to spit a little...
