how live has it been? anyone know?

Hess is always crazy busy in the summer. Almost every single club has lineups if you don't get there before 11pm.

avoid tap house at all costs during the summer. i was there a couple of weeks ago and there was literally 15 people there... five of which were my friends.

During the summertime, Hess Village is filled with the Hamilton population, who are predominantly not McMaster students. If you do decide to go, get there at around 10 PM (before the place gets packed) and leave before 12:30 AM (before the place becomes a warzone).

Thefts, assaults, sexual assaults, and brawls are so commonplace there during the summer, the Hamilton Police Services simply have units sit around Hess and wait for things to go wrong. Also, the owner of Elixr was recently convicted of sexually assaulting one of his own employees, so don't give that place your business under any circumstances.

That said, if you enjoy nightclubs, you'll probably enjoy Hess. Just don't expect to be interacting with the same crowd you would during the school year.

The one and only time I ever went in there I thought it was really sketchy and left within 5 minutes, good to know this feeling was completely justifiable.

Sadly. Love this place, wish it had more business in the summer.
