To all incoming first year students:

The Horizons Leadership Conference will take place once again this year, between August 14th and 16th. It is a 3 day, 2-night program. This conference is for students looking forward to becoming involved in University. The fee of the program is $175 if you pay before July 17th, and $185 after that.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN (on a first-come first serve basis, so HURRY!)

Horizons rocks!!! If you're a first year, I HIGHLY recommend attending. Don't pass up the opportunity to:

a) Stay in residence and experience res life!
b) See the campus before you arrive in Sept
c) Meet LOADS of new people and fellow first-years BEFORE arriving at Mac!
d) Have lots of fun playing games and activities, ice breakers, and learning cheers
e) Walk around on campus in September and feeling more welcome and at ease since you see some friendly Horizons faces around and are able to wave to others who recognize you from the conference
f) And of course.. build LEADERSHIP skills and learn how to become more involved!

What Chad said sounds awesome . I'm planning on going. Just filled my application actually.

Any other first years planning on attending ? And any upper years will be on staff?

Ahh, I wish that I'd attended before first year.
I couldn't because I was traveling.

I never attended before first year because I didn't really understand what it was and honestly I regretted it. I'll be on staff this year and I really encourage you all to go if you can so that you all don't have the same regrets that I did.

Yeah, I couldn't make it to the conference last year and I was really disappointed. The people I know that went said it was an amazing experience. That's why I decided to apply for Horizons this year as a staff member and was offered a position. I'm pretty stoked...

Yeah, I heard great things about it, and to be honest this is the first year I've even heard about it, and I'm going into my fourth year! So stoked to be a staff member though!

Yeah,
I completely regret not going my first year, my friends who went I felt had an upper hand in everything from knowing more people, to knowing there way around campus and such. So I highly recommend going.
I will also be a Horizons Staff this year and am extremely stoked for it.

Ya, I couldn't find anything either. I was wondering if I might have missed something. I'll probably email them later. Thanks for the email Jeremy

Ooh I emailed them and this is what she said:

""I was out of the country for two weeks. I am back now. I have recieved your application I am just waiting on confirmation that the cheque has cleared.

You will recieve a confirmation package with information on how to get to mac and the next steps in the next two weeks"""

So I guess all that info is coming in the mail

Hi everybody,

Just a few points:

1. For those who have been considering registering but was deterred by the cost, we have now extended the Early Bird price to July 30th. This is the $175 price as opposed to $185.

2. In terms of times of start and end (and this is based on our tentative schedule):
August 14th - Registration begins at around 3 PM.
August 16th - If all goes according to plan, Pack Up is around 5 to 6 PM.

If you guys have any more questions, just PM me or, better yet, post in this thread so everyone can find out some more details. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability!

Can't wait to meet all of you in August!
