Structure and composition of viruses, replication strategies, how the virus invades, and its use in the field of medicine.

That is a really big generalization that I don't think anyone can make not having taken the course.

Yeah, I doubt a course like virology would be "easy."
lol especially when its opened to many non-health sci students

Probably a lot of memorization. The virology section in first year bio had a lot of memorization.

For one of the quizzes/tests one question was "Spell HIV". Only one person got it right.

H I V
If they wanted human immunodeficiency syndrome then the question would have been what does HIV stand for.
I heard it was easier and more interesting than immuno.

Interest is subjective :\ Even difficulty can be subjective.

I didn't take the course, but I heard that it got harder compared to previous years.
Here's the evaluation breakdown:
30% --- Class quizzes
15% --- Position paper #1
15% --- Position paper #2
40% --- Final exam
Quizzes are cumulative and based on material from both lectures and tutorials. My friends in the class didn't seem to enjoy these very much since sometimes the quiz questions were about information that would be covered later in that same lecture.
For the position papers, a specific question will be asked and you take a position and defend it. As with most Health Sci courses, this requires a lot of scholarly research and being able to apply appropriate concepts from those journals. Papers are marked by TAs, so subjectivity is possible.
