I.e. cool profs? what courses would you recommend? and any other tips you'd have for a first year...

thanks
I've got degrees in English, Cultural Studies and Anthro as well as a minor in Indigenous Studies...

My favourite profs in the English/CSCT program are:

Rick Monture (cross-listed with Indig Studies)
Daniel Coleman
Helene Strauss
Marc Ouellette

I've also liked Iris Bruce, Helen Ostovich, Jeffery Donaldson, Sarah Brophy.

And there also some profs I hated.

Your courses are limited in terms of English for first year. I took 1B03 and 1BB3 (which I don't think are being offered next year). Any other English course I've taken I've written a review for in the course reviews section.

It does suck when you get a TA that's just never happy, but if you can write a well thought, fair paper (especially in philosophy) then they really can't be that hard on you. If your paper is fair and doesn't make stupid logical or argumentative mistakes then they're basically bound to giving you a decent mark. You can always appeal it, but nobody ever does.
