Humanities Reinstatement
I've kind of dug myself into a hole and was wondering if y'all could shed some light on a situation?

I've made an appointment with my regular therapist at the end of the month and before then I was supposed to go talk to Academic Advising or the Registrar or -someone- at Mac so I could tell my therapist what I would need/if I would need anything for reinstatement

Problem is: she kept moving up my appointment and now it's on Wednesday and I've still not gone to McMaster. [And today is a smegging Holiday, that I totally forgot about]

I'm going to go tomorrow, but in case they can't/don't give me the answers I need ...

[Note: I've taken a year off between leaving McMaster and now]

It says on the reinstatement .pdf for humanities that they won't even look at your application unless it's backed up by proof you've improved [either by taking online classes or attending college]

I don't have this.

Is there a loophole for medical reasons at all? Has anyone heard this happening?

Thanks in advanced!

Yes, it is heard of to be reinstated without online classes or college, especially if you'be taken time off.

Your medical issues will help with the application, but the key for you will be to write a kickass letter showing you've grown as a person and are ready for a second chance. Don't make excuses, but rather show them how it won't happen again.

I don't know anything about reinstatement, but about going to see Humanities Academic Advising: I recommend that you see Jennifer Richardson in the office. She's great!

Yes, I know people who have been reinstated without taking any other courses, as well.

And for your reinstatement application, Kudos is right. You can state why you messed up in the first place, but the biggest, most important part of the letter is how you're going to fix it, what will be different if you're going to be reinstated for school again, how you'll cope with the stress/medical stuff/whatever, so that your academic life won't be affected. Not why you messed up, but how this time will be different, even if you're dealing with the same issues.

Also, try not to make it sound like you're using excuses or too much of a sob story, the advisors probably see that a LOT and get sick of it lol

Good luck
