Yeah, I don't think one would be able to take advantage of the advice presented in this thread unless they happen to be driving when Main St. is empty, which is unlikely considering Main St. is...a main street.
Also I did some math:
- The distance from Longwood at Main to Mac is only 1.4km.
- Travelling at 65km/h means you take 55.4s/km. At 68km/h, you take 52.9s. This is a difference of 2.5s/km, or 3.5s/1.4km.
- Divided among the three sets of traffic lights, you'll average a difference of 1.16s between driving 65km/h and 68km/h.
This difference is small enough to have things such as the acceleration of your vehicle make an impact, resulting in your figure of 68km/h being too accurate. It's probably safer to say that one should drive around 68 +/- 2km/h or so, with there being more leniency to adjust for gunning yellow lights.
