Incoming Long Distance
So I'm not paying Skype for the $3/mth, unlimited north america: Using the SkypeToGo number for whichever local calling area I'm in, I get unlmited long distance at no extra cost from rogers... Great deal really!

But Skype offers what's called an Online number, and Call forwarding: They allocate you a phone number in your area, and when people call that umber, it goes to your computer. The call forwarding feature sends that number to your mobile phone, making INCOMING calls, part of your $3/mth package as well (with the additional cost of the online number). Problem is: They don't offer the online number in canada, and probably never will (Nothing's been done for 3 years on it).

My theory is: They can't be the only people offering a means of receiving cheap incoming, long distance phone calls.

Anyone else know how to get cheaper incoming long distance? By cheaper, I don't mean paying Rogers $30 or $45 / mth for unlimited I mean, I'm paying $3/mth for unlimited north america as it is............... I'm not looking to increase dramatically.

Thanks!

It was my understanding that you don't get charged for long distance if its an incoming call- its definitely that way with Wind Mobile, and when I was with Bell I'm pretty sure it was the same. If you need to receive calls to your computer as well that isn't helpful, but if you just want them to your mobile, you should be fine.

I believe incoming is still long distance. A little over 50% sure on that.

HEY! Who knew... "The area associated with your wireless number. All calls that you receive on your wireless device while you are physically within that area are local" -- Ted Rogers (Or the people paid by his company...) (Yes, I know he has past away.)

Sweet tip off,

thanks!
