The best time to view anything celestial is midway between dusk and dawk...3:30-5:30 am is clearly not at this point.
 
It's typically around 2 am (except in the summer when it gets dark like 10 pm and the sun rises like 5 am) but this time you have to consider that daylight savings just happened, and the days are getting really short.
 
 
That being said, I started watching around 11:00, starting catching quite a bit of action around 11:45 ish.
