Inter-residence council??
To be part of the Inter-residence council, do you need to go for an interview?
As well, are there any other positions than being the Floor Leader of the IRC?
thanks

You probably have to go for an interview, because I highly doubt you'll be designated a position for just applying via the internets.

Since you're in first year, all you can do is be a FLIRC. And to do that, you need 10 signatures from people in your residence. Also, there might be positions for chairs of different sub-committees but that's determined later on. But the good thing about being a FLIRC is that you can run for IRC Hall-Rep or Programming rep for your building or any building at the end of first year (unfortunately, that can't be done until then).

To be a FLIRC, you need 10 signatures from your rez-mates. And as to what the IRC does, it really depends on what committee you want to join. I feel that that's explained best in the facebook groups for the different buildings, if you haven't checked it already.
Also, check these, I couldn't have explained it better than these articles!

I'm one of the Hall reps for the IRC for next year, so let me know if you have any questions at all!

Yep, applications are due on the last day of Welcome week usually, so that gives you about a week or so after you move in. Regarding the time commitment, there's usually 1-2 hours per committee meeting (you can join more than one but you need to be in at least one) and 1-2 hours of in-Hall meetings a week with the rest of the FLIRCS in your buildings. The latter though, didn't always last an hour even. So I would say about 2-4 depending on how much is going on that week, so it's really not a huge commitment in terms of meeting. If you're in something like yearbook though, you might have to put in sometime outside of meetings, but even then, it's just a few hours a week. And personally, I thought it was a great experience because i got to meet a ton of people especially in my building and others as well as interact with them regularly.
