MacInsiders Socials have been very successful. Sure, there's delicious free food and fun prizes, but the real excitement comes from having a venue to chat with fellow members of the MI Community. Today, we hope to take this online by launching a new venue for you to hang out and socialize with MI members, and we call it "
MacInsiders Community Chat", a place for

instant discussion.
The MI Community is a great and growing online community to be a part of, and a lot of discussion happens here on MI each day in the forums. Hundreds of posts are made each day, many questions are answered, and opinions are shared. But what about general chit chatting with other members of the MI community? Forums do not update in real-time which can hinder a hot conversation amongst users. For this reason, the community chat will allow real-time discussion in one centralized online conversation.
While the forums will always be the place for questions and answers, opinions, advice, articles, and deep discussion, we hope that you'll use the MI Community Chat to quickly connect with other MI users and join the ongoing, real-time conversation.

You do not need to sign up for a new account to use MI Community Chat. Once you visit the URL
http://www.macinsiders.com/chat you will be instantly logged in using your existing MacInsiders username and password (if you're already logged in to MI).
Break Out Into Your Own Private Convo
Have a group of friends on MI that you want to chat with separately? Break out into your own private group chat! Invite other users online to join your private chat and make it invite-only. Live in a particular residence? Start a chat for your res! Private group chats can be easily set up any time for you and your friends.
Private Chats
Just like you can "PM" or Private Message MI users via the forums, you can also send private chat messages to members that are online... for when you want to take a conversation private or chat one-on-one.
Multiple Languages Available
Other languages are fully supported if you want to open a group chat with your friends and want the chat features to be in a different language. Note however, the "General" chat channel (the main public member channel) is English only please.
