				iPhone 4 Plan

So I'm dying to get the new iPhone 4 but I just don't know what plan to get. I'm looking for something that's decently priced. Some one on another iphone thread was talking about getting some $48 plan and then canceling their data plan after a month and only paying $25/month from then.

Do the companies selling the iphone 4 even let you cancel data plans?

Also, if you have an iphone 4, what does your plan include? And is it decently priced?

Thanks!

You can cancel your data plan, but you have to pay the data cancellation fee (im with rogers and thats $100). However to get the best deal you should contact your current provider and tell them you think your paying too much about paying and thinking about switching to a cheaper provider. You'd be surprised by the discounts they offer.

 This is true.

If you're persistent and threaten to cancel their tune will change and you will get better offers. You just have to keep your cool on the phone with them, don't lose your head. Speak to the CSRs calmly and rationally. Tell them you're unhappy with you're current plan, think you're paying too much and mention that you've heard of better deals you can get with other providers.

Especially since you want the new iPhone you can tell them you'll go with Bell, Telus, Fido, Rogers etc since all the major providers are offering the phone, you have options this time with the iPhone.

		 Thanks for the info.

And I already thought of the idea you suggested :p but unfortunately I'm with Solo right now; and they don't have the iPhone :(

Well try and negotiate with different providers and see what they'll offer you. Call Rogers and if you don't like what they offer tell them you're going to call Bell or Telus and vice versa.

Get the iPhone 4 unlocked from apple store, then go with a voice plan + data addon.

the iPhone without a data plan makes no real sense... the main reason to get an iPhone is the 3G data connection, it's really only a so-so phone.

Just buy an iPod touch and keep your old phone

 uh?

iPhone without Data Plan makes tons of sense. Its an HD camera, GPS, Browser on WiFi, can get cool games/apps for productivity/fun, etc.

People can make use of an iPhone without "data". Just use wifi, its all over mac anyway.

The iPod touch also has wifi. The only thing that the iPhone has is the HD camera and an upgraded version of the GPS. Now the GPS shows which way you are facing.

So an iPhone without data is just an iPod touch that can make calls.

 Not even close.

Look at the specs for an iPhone, and compare it to an iPod Touch. It doesnt make sense when people say that.. then its like saying, Windows 7 is basically like Vista, except its better.

That 'HD Camera' would probably cost you 200-300$ if you bought an actual camera with HD recording. GPS itself is $100-200, so theres more savings. And a phone.. a good smartphone is like $400-600 unlocked. Your also getting an iPod built in (which is another $150-250)

So, costs come up to $400+200+100+250 = 950$, but if you buy it unlocked its $659. So you save, and your getting an all in one device, and a sweet phone as well!

The iPod Touch is an iPod and a GPS, so 950-250-100=600$. If you are buying a smartphone and not getting data then what's the point? You could get a free phone on a contract. So according to the specs you've giving, you're paying 600$ for an HD camera.

Just ran through the prices and it looks like getting the iPhone 4 and paying $100 to cancel the data plan really is the best option:

iPhone 4 + 3 years of a $30 data plan: $1 350

iPhone 4 unsubsidized: $780

iPod Touch + HD Camera/Camcorder: $530

iPhone 4 + Data cancellation Fee: $370

Yea i would deff go with the iphone 4 and cancel the data if ya dont need it. I signed up for one. should be here soon, with data. Though that is cause im gonna be traveling a lot and it would be nice to use my laptop on the go.

If you are gonna be at home or uni most of the time you dont need data cause there is wifi a lot of places now days.

Yup of course, not to mention, if in a year your bored of the iPhone, you can still sell it for $400-500 easily. Not so much for the iPod Touch
Just gotta make sure Telus/Bell/Rogers policy is infact $100 max charges, i spoke to someone and they said it is $400 max, but im not 100% sure.
