Just out of curiosity, can I show my Mac Student Id Card at the stores for discounts?
My teachers in highschool told me, that I should take the advantage of showing my Student Id cards at any store to get some sort of discount. Is this true?

I wanted to a new laptop soon, and just wanted to know if I could use my Mac Id Card at like a Futurshop/Bestbuy for discounts...

No, I asked my teachers that and they said they were talking about the photo id they take at Uni and not the SPC

Some stores offer discounts for students. If they do, then they'll ask for proof that you're a student and you show your student card. Sobeys is an example, and I know the Superstore does this one day a week.

You can't just walk into every store and expect a discount for being a student.

Futureshop/Bestbuy really don't care if you're a student or not. Though, if you're going to buy an Apple laptop from them, you will receive a student discount.

I know that Bulk Barn gives you a student discount on Wednesdays as long as you have your ID card

I've only heard that Apple gives out student discounts. But even then, they just ask for your address and University you are attending.

Recently saw in a Future Shop advertisement that they will do some form of student pricing on computers. I don't know how significant it is. I merely saw it in passing.

Apple asked me to log into my student e-mail (or maybe it was MUGSI) before I got the discount.

I've never really heard of this to be honest.
If you're looking for a discount on Apple products, they have student pricing as well as a $100 promo gift card right now.
