Kin 1y03 or Pyschobiology 1g03?????
I'm having difficulties picking my first sem electives.
So far I have chem 1a03, bio 1mo3, math 1ls3 and psych 1x03.

Ive taken exercise science in grade 12 and loved it. Although it was a heavy load, or so i thought especially when it came to studying for other tests, regardless looking back the course was so interesting

Ive also been told to take psycho biology since there is no mid term and exam so that will allow me to ease into my other courses and adapt to their work load my first semester...however apparently it wont boost my gpa because its a simple pass or fail course..

So any suggestions on which elective I should take as a first year student????

Psychobio wasnt P/F in the past, but I heard its changing so it might be now. Anyways, it was an incredibly boring course and I don't suggest you bother with it, since you're considering Kin 1Y03 which is a way better course and much more interesting

remember, if you take psychobio 1G03, you won't be able to take psych 1XX3...which I recommend, and you need to take it anyway. take kin and psych

He can take both psychobio 1g03 and psych xx3.

edit: okay, so it seems like you cannot take xx3 first I guess

If you look at the prereqs, you'll see that you need to be registered in level I med rad. You didn't specify your program but since it's a required course in med rad and you're considering it as an elective, I'm going to assume that you're not in med rad. As of this year, the course is no longer available as an elective to first-year students. Students in levels 2+ who wish to take the course as an elective can enroll in kin 2Y03/2YY3.

And instead of asking "are you sure I can't" you should look at the 2013/2014 course calendar and/or talk to an advisor, especially if you're hearing mixed things.

Edit: according to the course calendar, you can't take psychobio if you have credit or registration in psych 1XX3. It doesn't specify if the reverse is true, but you cannot register in them both at once. It doesn't matter if 1XX3 is second term and psychobio is first term, you'll still be registered in 1XX3 during first term. If you plan on waiting until you've completed psychobio to register in 1XX3, you should talk to an advisor to make sure you'll be allowed to keep both credits. They cover most of the same material anyways, I don't understand why you want to take both.

Two hours (lectures), one hour (web module), two hours (labs, alternating weeks); weekly tests; one term
Prerequisite(s):
Completion of Biology U is strongly recommended.

Prerequisite(s)(EFFEC TIVE 2013-2014): Grade 12 Biology U or BIOLOGY 1P03; and registration in a program in the Faculty of Science

Corequisite(s)
HTH SCI 1BS0, WHMIS 1A00 (or SCIENCE 1A00) if not already completed. Both requirements must be completed prior to the first lab.

Antirequisite(s):
HTH SCI 1D06, 1H03, 1H06, 1HH3, 2F03, 2FF3, 2L03, 2LL3, KINESIOL 1A03, 1A06, 1AA3, 1X06, MED PHYS 4XX3, SCIENCE 4XX3
Not open to students registered in a Kinesiology program or the B.H.Sc. (Honours) program.

that is on the course list.....it states a pre req is registration in a program of the faculty of science and to my understanding, life science is a program of the faculty of science.
So that is actually how I figured I can take it and it is an elective to me...no where did it say I must be in med rad.

and I have to take pysch 1xx3, so i do not WANT to take both, one of them is needed while the other is an elective, hence the elective title.

thank you for the reply though

You're looking at the 2012/2013 course calendar - even though it says 'effective 2013/2014, this was added prior to the new changes. This change was just made in the last month or so. As I said, you need to look at the 2013/2014 calendar.

Why do you have to take 1XX3? It's not required for first year life sci.
