kinesiology questions
I am interested in kin but have two questions.
-how many people apply for the program, there are about 200 spots so I was wondering how many people they deny?
-if the admission average is high 80s would an 86 have a chance of getting in?

thanks.

86 might be a little low. ~86 is what the cut-off for Life Sci seems to be at the moment and Kin is typically higher in my experience. For complete peace of mind, I'd say you'll need a 90 because the averages seem to keep going up every year.

I'm in fourth year kin currently, and from what I've heard, last year the necessary average to get in ended up being more like an 89% than an 86%. It's also important to note that the minimum average for admission has been going up every year, because kin is a limited enrollment program, so unfortunately, I would think you'd need more like an 89 or 90% to get in.

thanks all.

two more questions:
Would a night school calculus be a strong enough foundation for the program?
Also would you recommend grade 12 chemistry?
thanks

You can either do night school calculus or you can take MATH 1F03 which is equivalent to grade 12 calc. You're going to need a mandatory life science based calculus course but i wouldn't worry about it if you have the slightest clue about what you're doing in either of the aforementioned classes.

In kin we don't really deal with chemistry a lot but if you want to take a university level chem class (for med school) then grade 12 chemistry is needed.

I'm also sitting at around an 86. On EInfo it says 85-87%. How accurate and reliable is eInfo? This thread totally just crushed my dreams :(

Admissions are increasing every year... that will always shift the required average up. Sorry about your dreams... you might get lucky and for some freak reason tons of people will apply to life sci instead of kin?

I see, so I guess it's not going to happen for me. Thanks for your time though.

A couple of years ago I got in with a top 6 average of 86.66. I think the cutoff that year was about 86. I was accepted in April that year. But I bet the averages are going up each year.

You bet. They're only increasing each year.

I got into Kin this year with an average of 88.3%. My acceptance was not early and came in May.
A friend of mine at my school had an average of 87.8% and was not accepted.

So if Mac Kin is where you want to go, put some effort in, get those marks up, and if you get an 88-89 you should be in the clear.
