Landlord busted for cocaine trafficking
Hey, my landlord recently got busted for trafficking of cocaine. I was wondering if anybody else has the same landlord and has received their money back for rent. He actually owes me quite a bit of money and is not picking up his phone. I am not sure what to do.

Any suggestions?

I wanna say the police, but....not too sure. Maybe try getting in touch with them about it?

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

But seriously, probably talk to the cops about it. Drug seizures are obviously dealt with them.

^ I always thought they would sell off assets to help pay victims. or maybe thats only for ponzi schemes... but maybe they do it for others? still worth a shot, ecspecially since rent in 30+ hours at min wage each month to pay for it

So your landlord is an idiot, but I don't think there's any possible reason for you to get your rent money back especially if you lived there.

You drew a contract up for a service, and as long as you got that service I'm pretty sure what's happened has no effect on you (except that you may decide to move). Your landlord on the other hand will probably be slapped with a slew of charges ranging from fraud to money laundering

I don't see why you're comparing a ponzi scheme to drug trafficking...
All money seized will be held and until they convict the guy. You should watch more TV :p

Also... I don't technically see why you should be getting your rent back unless you can no longer live in your house. And even so, if you gave post-dated cheques, you can just cancel the remaining cheques. Just because he's been arrested for drug trafficking doesn't mean you necessarily should get your money back if you still lived there during the time you were paying rent for.

He might not be picking up his phone because he's in jail?

Im assuming you gave him post dated cheques? I'm pretty sure you can just cancel them.
