mac or pc, doesnt matter. dont expect an hp to last you the full 4 years tho. in all reality even an amazing lenovo or dell (wit substantially better specs than most companies) wont last all that long. Id personally recommend lenovo (IBM). its a business leader for a reason; its reliability. I have yet to see a laptop (in the year i bought it) that can out perform my 15 inch lenovo laptop.

I've been using a Fujitsu tablet for a couple of years now.

Do you necessarily *need* a tablet? No. You can get by with a regular laptop. But I'm just throwing it out there. It'll definitely help with note taking if you suddenly need to draw tables or whatever and don't wanna switch between paper and a laptop.
