Laptop CPU Upgrade Hints + Results
Thought i would share this for those that are interested (or guests from the internet...). This can work for various laptops intel or amd, as long as you try to follow these guidelines:
-Stay in the same family (putting a Core 2 Quad (socket P) into a Core 2 Duo (Socket P) laptop probably wont work due to bios restrictions)
-Match your socket (incl revision!) eg: Turion comes in Socket 1 (S1G1), but also Socket 1 (S1G2)
-Stay within your thermal bracket to avoid overheating/battery issues (i would stay within +- 3 watts of original)
-Update your bios to newest version from laptop manufacturer website before ugrading.
-Try to find a laptop in the same family as yours with the better cpu for proof of concept..
-Best thing ever: search google for "Factory Repair Manual Model ###" or similar, they list all the compatable parts and options for your laptop... I lucked out and found the one for the 5110 so i knew that the TL-60 was supported.

Useful websites:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of... croprocessors (to see which model number matches your interest)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...icroprocessors (at the bottom are the mobile ones)
http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/SearchSite.pl (great site to check specs of specific cpu, more accurate then wiki)

These are the improvements to my benchmarks in Everest Ultimate v5.5 after upgrading cpu on Acer 5110 laptop.
Original, AMD Turion X2 dual core TL-52 @ 1.6 Ghz, to TL-60 @ 2.0 Ghz (CpuZ screenshots).
Since the newer cpu is 65 nm instead of 90 nm it actually consumes LESS power and runs cooler.

MemRead: 15%
MemWrite: 22%
MemCopy: 14%
MemLatency: 6%
CPU Queen: 25%
CPU PhotoWorxx: 10%
CPU ZLib: 20%
CPU AES: 25%
FPU Julia: 24%
FPU Mandel: 25%
FPU SinJulia: 25%
Full Everest reports comparing to various other cpus TL-52 and TL-60

And what matters most.....
Starcraft 2 beta: 16% increase in FPS (low quality @ 1280x800, 50 fps on average)... All for only 50$ shipped, and 10minutes installation.

If you got questions, feel free to ask... and the Tl-52 is for sale for 15$ if anyone wants it, very good battery life with that cpu.
