Laptops for sc2
I'm looking into purchasing a laptop that will be able to run sc2 a decent framerate (preferably around a constant 60 fps). I don't mind if I have to turn graphics down to around medium since I have a desktop that is fully capable of maxing stuff out

This (one on the far left) is one I am currently looking at, and I would like to stay around this price range. Any help is greatly appreciated

My laptop sucks - has 265VRAM. But in Low settings, the game runs pretty damn well, and it still manages to look pretty damn awesome, too.

Can You Run It?

Edit: Woops, I just realized you're still looking for the laptop to play on.

I have an Acer 4820TG. It runs SC pretty well on medium, but can only handle 3 or so games in a row before it needs a break because of heating. It has switchable graphics, so you can also have a battery life of 8 hrs. Cost me $800.

Some specs:
- i5-460M (2.53 GHz, 3MB L3 cache) (switchable to intel integrated graphics)
- ATI Mobiligy Radeon HD 5650
- 4 GB DDR3 Ram
- 320 GB HDD

Asus G series laptops are able to run SCII quite well. I believe their newer ones get a good framerate when some settings are on ultra and the rest on high

Double post.

Also, get a cooling pad. Titles has one for pretty cheap, and it's pretty damn good. Dual fans. I use it for my laptop and it never overheats too much.

Right now I would be able to get the lenovo with the i3 2310m processor for $735 bucks after tax and shipping and everything. I'm pretty much wondering if this processor will hold the game back at all.

Got the Asus B43J and it can run SC2 at extreme settings, but it gets a tad bit hot and choppy when there are a lot of units on screen. I usually run at med to high regularly, but I put in 8GB to compensate for unoptimal speed it will act at right out of the box with these settings. I think my computer was 660$ with tax. There are various quirks I do not like with this computer, so I would search for something with similar specs (preferably i7 or equivalent processor) with ddr3 16GB expandable memory slots. Quality/recommended graphics card and motherboard is a must, so DO talk to nerds, not tech experts at computer stores.

i3 vs 'better' processors isn't very much of an issue if you're just trying to run the game (i.e. on 'low' settings), its your graphics card and what you actual processor speed comes out to be because of other build specs. I'm almost certain you can get something A LOT better than that for 735$.

The graphics card in it isn't bad though is it?

Looks pretty good, especially with all that VRAM. Look for reviews on it for specific incompatibilities/quirks/****ups, but as far as I can see, it works well with starcraft 2.
(going off the youtube video of a guy playing on ultra.. hehe)

I thought it was pretty good in terms of dedicated laptop graphics card. Overall I have read pretty good things about the overall build quality of the laptop itself. I research this stuff quite a bit, I was more looking if anyone had experince with this same laptop since I can't seems to find that many reviews online.

Well if you're looking for a decent laptop, any using the Intel HD graphics card is good for you, granted that the specs are decent. Most laptops can run games spec-wise but its the graphics card that screws you over, but SC2 doesn't really require such a high-end on such as Nvidia or GeForce. My Sony Vaio runs SC2 just fine, on normal graphic settings, never tried maximum settings though.
