Late Night Study places at Mac?
Does anyone know of a great place to study for those late night sessions? I'm talking about 10pm-1am or so.

I loved staying up on the fourth floor of the MDCL, but apparently I'm not allowed to study there past 6?

Thanks!

Anywhere you normally can go, just.... be sneakier..

JHE is open (some way or another) 24/7, and as long as classroom doors are not locked, you've got a decent place to study. Libraries are open later during exam times (not midterm period I don't think). MUSC 24/7, usually pretty empty late late late at night during non-exam periods (well, empty of studiers, still people sleeping). IWC has some good space to work with and can't really be completely sealed even if it has a closing time. CVA has hosted some study space at some church during exam periods in the past. Lots of classrooms in the basement of MUSC (GH/KTH/CNH), most of which are empty and unlocked.

Basically be sneaky or find back doors.

I always used the desks on the 2nd floor of musc where the water fountain is. Since it's 10 pm or so, it shouldn't be that crowded. Even if it is, there's a specific room beside that area that's designed for quiet studying. I used it during the summer and stayed they're until 4-5 am. That space isn't regulated (well, only the cleaning lady comes once in awhile), so it's technically open 24/7

The Corner Cafe (2nd floor hospital in the main entrance area) is open 24/7 and has tables and outlets next to it.

3rd floor MUSC. I pulled plenty of nights last year until 5/6am when I was on a stupid sleeping schedule.

Wow you can't study past 6 in the upstairs rooms of MDCL anymore? Is this only for 4th floor? I spent many evenings on the 2nd floor.

Anyways, I always had this issue on rez since my roommate was a snorer. Outside of Mill's 2nd floor (which isn't even 24 hours anymore? Goes til 3am but is really loud) and rez basements (pretty good!). You can try the CNH Basement tables, albeit uncomfortable. The upper floors of the student centre is probably your best bet.

CNH basement if I need to power thru... Usually deserted at night, uncomfortable seats keep you awake and there's a washroom and two vending machines right there. Bam! Only one outlet tho but I usually don't study with my laptop to cut down on distractions.

Wander around creepily at night and check all the buildings and you'll be suprised at what you find. I have studied until 4 am at:
- JHE
- BSB
- CNH
- TSH
- Student center
- Mills (although it depends on how well you deal with noise)
- ABB (if your lucky)

If one kicks you out, just move to another. As long as you are studying alone or with a small quiet group, no one notices

if you can get into HH before 10pm when the doors close, it's an amazing and quiet place to study. there's usually other people studying too.
the back doors can only be opened from the inside in case you need to get out or let someone in.

I was able to study on the fourth floor to 930 yesterday. I'll keep on trying for now...

Next time I get caught I'll check out some of these places.

Get to a room in MDCL/other buildings before the main doors close. You cant get to the 4th floor after 6 but if you are already there then you can stay till they kick you out which is often late (just dont leave or you wont get back in)

If they kick you out just wander to another building. JHE is always open and BSB has a lot of rooms and they often dont kick you out when they close. Look there if you cant find anywhere else.
