This class titled Class Language Acquisition explored the theories, experiments and research done on how children acquire language. It also gives an overview of what sort of comprehension and productions children make during the acquisition process.
It was very interesting material and the professor, Dr. Anderson, presented the material very well. The midterm and exam are fairly easy to do well on if you know the material. She doesn't really use the textbook (more for background reading) and relies more on her lecture notes.
The only thing I didn't like about this course was the projects. The projects were basically about analyzing data and children's productions. Dr. Anderson's instructions are often vague and it is difficult to know what she is looking for. She also cannot answer questions well about the projects.
We also had lecture summaries where you were assigned a group and date, and you had to get together and summarize her lecture. All of these were posted on the web, and proved to be very helpful for both the midterm and final.
